Reach people looking for their community

Ads on Auntie Knows Native help keep the site free for everyone. Any business with something useful for Native people and families can advertise.

Why it matters

Native people have always taken care of each other. Choosing a Native-owned roofer, mechanic, accountant, vet or printer when you can is one more way to do that, and it keeps money working in our communities. Friends of the community are welcome to do the same. Auntie Knows Native helps everyone find real Native-owned businesses in every line of work, from our artists and makers to our roofers, mechanics and accountants.

Every kind of business is welcome: home repair and construction, automotive, legal and financial services, health and wellness, professional services, animals and agriculture, food and hospitality, retail and online shops, technology, and arts, cultural work and education.

Who can advertise

Native-owned or not, if your business offers something our visitors can use, you're welcome here. Badges tell people whose Native or tribal ownership we've verified. They're free, and they can never be bought. Businesses without a badge list and advertise the same way.

How business listings work

Business listings are paid, and every one is reviewed before it appears. Community events and community resources stay free.

  • Choose your category (Automotive, Legal & Financial, Health & Wellness and so on) and the area you serve: a few counties, a whole state, several states, or nationwide.
  • Every listing is labeled Sponsored and shows the counties it serves. Badges are verified separately and can't be bought.
  • No cap on listings. Every approved business appears in each county it serves, in a fair, rotating order, so no one can buy the top of the list.

A network, county by county

A visitor picks their county or types their ZIP code and sees every listed business that serves it. That way a neighbor can find a Native-owned mechanic, roofer or accountant close enough to hire, and Native business owners can find each other for referrals, supplies and subcontracting too. The ZIP lookup happens on the visitor's own device; we never track visitors or their location.

Prices

All prices are per category, per month, billed monthly by autopay. Cancel anytime. Every paid placement is clearly labeled Sponsored.

Business listing (one category)Price per month

1 state: $25 a month per category

Local listing rules

  • Choose up to five counties in one state. They don't have to be next to each other, so a business with more than one location can cover them all in one listing.
  • You can choose fewer than five.
  • Your listing shows the counties you serve, and you confirm that you routinely serve them.
  • Counties in another state need a second local listing, even in the same metro area.
  • Serving more than five counties? Statewide is $25.

Examples:

  • A local roofer serving five nearby counties: $15 a month.
  • A business with shops in Wake County and Buncombe County: one local listing, $15.
  • A Charlotte landscaping company serving Mecklenburg County and up to four other counties: $15.
  • The same Charlotte business also serving York County, South Carolina: $15 for its NC counties plus $15 for its SC counties, or a statewide option where that fits better.
  • A mobile service covering eight counties: statewide, $25.
  • An attorney licensed statewide: statewide, $25.
  • A business serving North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia: $55.
  • A national online retailer: $200.

Each example is for one category. Prices may change. Your rate stays locked as long as your subscription stays active without a break; if you cancel and restart, current prices apply.

How it works

  1. Submit and pay. Send your listing (see what to send below) and pay by secure checkout. Monthly autopay starts then.
  2. We review it against the ad standards below, usually within two business days.
  3. Approved? Your listing goes live. Not approved? We refund your payment in full and tell you why.
  4. Cancel anytime. Your listing stays up through the month you've paid for. See ads and payments for refunds.

What to send

  • Business name, contact name and email
  • Website or social link, your category, and the counties, states or national coverage you want
  • One or two sentences about what you offer, and one image or logo
  • Whether you're applying for a badge, and how you'd like to verify (see how badges work)

Ad standards

  • No false Native-ownership claims. Only businesses with a badge may call themselves Native-owned or tribe-owned in their ads. Each advertiser is responsible for the accuracy of its own product claims.
  • No stereotypes or costume-style imagery, such as headdresses as decoration or "tribal" mascots.
  • No selling sacred or ceremonial items, and nothing that treats ceremony as entertainment.
  • Nothing that works against Native communities, such as predatory loans or scams.
  • Auntie Knows Native may decline any listing. If we decline yours, we refund your payment in full.

Advertiser agreement

Every advertiser agrees to these statements:

"I have read the ad standards. My ad does not claim Native or tribal ownership unless my business holds that badge, and I am responsible for my own product claims."

Badge applicants also agree: "I confirm this business is at least 51% owned and actively operated by an enrolled member of a federally or state-recognized tribe, or is owned by a tribe. I understand a false claim removes my badge and ads without refund."

Ads that break these standards or the badge rules after going live are removed without refund.
